Real Estate Flipping in Cleveland's Slavic Village

Mark Kellogg, a local Cleveland Mortgage Broker, recently plead guilty to 103 counts in Slavic Village mortgage fraud case. Earlier, this story made national headlines.

The map above shows Mark Kellogg's real estate network. Kellogg knew all of the people represented by the green nodes. Kellogg influenced each arrow/link in the network. The links designate a real estate sale: Seller --> Buyer. Most of the houses, sold in the links above, ended in foreclosure. The color of the link signifies which Bank generated the mortgage on the sale. Use the Links item in the panel to the left of the map to filter through the various mortgage banks.

The size of the node corresponds to its role in the Mark Kellogg network. The larger the node, the more it is in "the thick of things" in the flipping network.

You can interact with the network map by dragging the nodes around, zooming in and out, and using the panel to the left of the graph to view subsets of nodes and links.

We thank Cleveland Councilman Tony Brancatelli for the neighborhood real estate data.
